Places worth a trip

Each guide covers what it is, what to do, when to go and how to get there.

All destinations

The short version

  • Summer, June to August: the longest days and the busiest season, with temperatures above 20°C, and the best time for fjord cruising.
  • Autumn, September and October: quieter, and the northern lights return.
  • Winter, November to February: skiing and snow activities, and the polar night in the far north.
  • Spring, March to May: the south blooms while the north can still be wintry. March and April are among the most active months for the lights.
